The Moisturizer is step 4 in our step by step plan for daily skin care. When you begin using this product, we advise gradual introduction. Why is this though? And how do you carry this out exactly?
What does a Moisturizer do?
The name actually says it all: a Moisturizer ensures that your skin retains moisture more efficiently. When the skin is well hydrated, it will feel soft. But a good Moisturizer does more than that. The addition of active substances nourish and protect the skin against external influences.
High concentrations of active ingredients
The Moisturizers by Dr. Jetske Ultee contain active substances in effective concentrations, such as 5% Vitamin C and 1% Vitamin E. But also other ingredients such as Niacinamide, liquorice root extract, beta-glucan and evodia. These beautifiers support the skin barrier function giving redness and irritation less opportunity. Furthermore, they reduce the signs of ageing, such as fine lines and pigmentation spots. Because of the high concentrations of active substances it is sensible to start using gradually, especially if your skin is sensitive. The skin can slowly adjust and this will reduce the risk of irritation.
In this way the skin can adjust
When you start using the Moisturizer, first test it on the inside of your lower arm. If this is successful, you can then apply the product onto your face. For the first week do this in the evening every other day. Do you feel a slight tingling after applying the cream? This is normal and it will go away. Reassess your skin after one week to see if it is ready for the following step, which is to apply the Moisturizer every evening. Eventually you can apply the product in the morning as well as the evening.
But what can I use alongside the Moisturizer to begin with?
If you are used to applying a cream each day, what should you use at first while you are introducing our Moisturizer? You can use the product that your skin is used to temporarily. A plant oil is also an option. Once you are using the Moisturizer daily, these products are obviously no longer necessary. But do always keep a check on the needs of your skin. If you notice that your skin feels dry, then apply a plant oil or a blob of vaseline after the cream.
