Dr. Jetske Ultee: "With an exfoliant, you help remove dead skin cells for a fresher and more even skin. Exfoliants work from the inside out, as it were. The glycolic acid in this product ensures that dead skin cells shed more easily. This ingredient not only makes your skin more radiant but also works against skin aging by reducing the appearance of pigmentation spots and surface wrinkles. Glycolic acid also helps the skin retain moisture better. The other star in this Exfoliant is tranexamic acid, which effectively reduces and prevents pigmentation spots. Additionally, this substance beautifully helps with redness. I also have another Exfoliant Extra Strong, which contains salicylic acid and azelaic acid. I recommend this if you want to address unsettled skin with issues like bumps, redness, blackheads, and pimples."

If you're just starting with the Exfoliant, take it easy. Begin by using the product every other day. Is that going well? Then you can use it daily. You can also use the Extra Strong version alongside your current exfoliant with glycolic acid. In that case, use it 1 to 2 times a week as a treatment.
Tranexamic acid is a relatively new player in the skincare world and can truly help reduce and prevent stubborn pigmentation spots. And not only pigmentation spots caused by hormonal fluctuations but also discoloration after pimples or redness due to sun damage. And that's not all, tranexamic acid can also reduce redness and bumps. A great ingredient that gives you a beautiful, even complexion.
Prebiotics help maintain a good balance of the skin flora. Additionally, the added prebiotics can hydrate the skin very well. A valuable addition to the Exfoliant Extra Strong.
If you already use an exfoliant daily, start by replacing your current exfoliant every other day with the Extra Strong version. If this goes well, you can eventually apply this product every day. If not, continue alternating them.
If you're not using any exfoliant yet, you can start by applying the Exfoliant every other day. If this goes well, you can use the Exfoliant daily in the following week.
You will soon notice that your skin starts to glow and looks fresher. When you start using an exfoliant for the first time, you might initially experience purging, where all the impurities that were 'clogged' suddenly come up all at once. This is a good sign; your skin is trying to get rid of them all at once. Don't stop but give the product time. Your skin will truly become more beautiful after this.
Improving pigmentation spots and redness takes some time. Most people notice a difference after several weeks to months. My tip is to take photos before you start with the exfoliant!
By scrubbing, you remove the uppermost layer of dead skin cells. The downside is that you often also damage parts of the layer underneath. So, you're essentially irritating the skin instead of properly looking after it. An exfoliant based on salicylic acid or glycolic acid ensures that the connection between the dead skin cells is reduced, making the cells easier to shed. The result: fresher and more radiant skin becomes visible.
When pores get clogged, they become more visible. If this blockage persists, the pore wall can stretch a bit. A visible pore is often a clogged and, in most cases, stretched pore. Pores don't contain muscles, so they are not structures that can change in size. However, an exfoliant does ensure that pores remain clean and, as a result, are less noticeable.
Yes, all our exfoliants are safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
For your information: while the use of tranexamic acid tablets (as medication) is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, this warning does not apply to cosmetic products containing tranexamic acid. Research shows that the amount of tranexamic acid absorbed into the body through the skin is minimal and will not affect pregnancy or breastfeeding. Feel free to discuss its use with your doctor if you have any doubts.
