Foundation Week
It has been an exciting week for me. The week when, at long last, my foundation has become a fact. One last photoshoot with, none other than, top model Chelsey, in between interviews and one final check of the packaging, text and product info. A lot of work has gone into it. And I am happy and proud, but most of all very interested in what you think of it!
Why no foundation yet?
It had been a frequently recurring question in the last few years: why doesn’t Uncover Skincare have a make-up line? Such as a flawless foundation? A fine powder or bronzer? It is, after all, a mortal sin to care for your skin with good quality ingredients each day and yet apply the wrong make-up. Naturally, I wanted to do something about this. It was just a matter of finding the right answer for the market.
No irritating ingredients
I have kept you regularly updated with the hurdles we have encountered along the way. It was nowhere near as easy developing a product which perfectly fitted with my ideas and wishes. To start with it needed to be a foundation with a silky smooth feel. Also a cream which would give a beautiful light coverage, without blocking up the pores. It goes without saying that there could be no irritating substances, just active ingredients. And then it would need an airtight container with a pump to make it a longer lasting product. Challenging? Definitely, but we are finally there!
Natural radiance
So now, as well as the skincare line, Uncover Skincare has a fine foundation. One which subtly disguises spots and blemishes and, in our opinion, looks wonderful on the skin. The cream blends in with your own skin colour and provides a light refined covering. Thanks to the soft, light structure the product, in our opinion, goes on very smoothly. But most importantly: the foundation contains only good, mild and soothing ingredients.
Foundation is not a tanning product
A big misunderstanding, which can have unsightly results, is that you apply foundation to give your skin a tan. Don’t do it! Foundation is meant to eliminate imperfections and to make the skin look smooth, not to tan it. So, don’t go for a darker tint, you should always choose the colour which is closest to your own skin colour. A blusher or bronzing powder should be used to achieve colour. By the way, did you know that I am also working on that? We will be unveiling two fine powders soon. A transparent one which will make your skin soft and even, and one sun powder which will give a radiant glow. And a promise: there will soon be a sample kit available for the foundations. As that will make it easier to choose the best colour. I didn’t want to wait any longer for the launch.
SPF omitted from foundation
Our foundation contains no SPF. Intentionally. In order to receive the right protection against the sun you would need to apply a very thick layer of make-up. Nobody does that: it doesn’t look very attractive either. Have you seen my item about this on EditieNL? It is actually best if you use a separate sun cream. Always apply a sun product, for that matter. You can then put the foundation on afterwards.
