Using Make-Up with Acne, Is That Ok?
Acne is one of the most common skin problems. It is therefore not so strange that so much (mis) information can be found about it. For instance, is it better to not wear make-up if you have acne?

Prevent acne from worsening

There are various contributing factors which are known to exacerbate acne. Milk products and simple sugars are good examples of these. The list of cosmetic substances, which can increase the risk of spots, is also extensive. Coconut oil, for instance, is often used for its soothing properties, but is best avoided if you are prone to spots. The oil can increase the risk of spots. Silicones are also often associated with impurities. These substances, indeed, seem to increase the risk of spots if you don’t remove them thoroughly from the skin at night. That is why cleansing the skin is, and remains, so very important. Don’t forget brushes and other make-up utensils as well. You can also use the Cleanser by Dr. Jetske Ultee for this.

Make-up; yes or no?

This applies to all products which you put on your skin: avoid irritating ingredients. These substances can damage the skin barrier functioning. And it is precisely the sensitive skin with acne which can present more problems. You cannot say that make-up by definition aggravates acne. This is ultimately related to its composition and the way in which it is used. Besides this, every person obviously reacts differently. The skin can even have an over-sensitive reaction to beneficial, active substances such as Vitamin C. Incidentally, it is worth mentioning that studies have found that make-up can also improve the skin. It is common knowledge that people with acne can become very depressed and have low self-esteem. That is not good for the skin. Using make-up to make impurities less noticeable can make one feel better and therefore have an improved quality of life, which can even ultimately alleviate the problem.

Foundation and Powder

The make-up products by Dr. Jetske Ultee are suitable for skin with impurities. The Foundation conceals pimples and other blemishes in a natural way. The cream provides a light coverage without creating a ‘mask effect’. The Foundation has, above all, a smooth, light structure and glides on perfectly. Finally, the product contains nothing but mild and soothing substances. The same applies to the Powder. With this you can mattify and fix your Foundation. Just be careful when using with powder with impurities, that the skin doesn’t become too dry. Otherwise the pimples will only become more noticeable.
