It is no longer a surprise for most people; fragrances in skincare products are the most common cause of a cosmetic allergy. These are found on the ingredients list under the heading of perfume or fragrance. Some must be listed separately on the packaging because they are known to cause problems for many consumers.<\/p>\n

The 26 fragrances<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are 26 fragrances which are required to be listed separately on the label. These substances are :<\/p>\n

Geraniol – Linalool – Citronellol – D-limonene – Eugenol – Lilial (butylphenyl methylpropional) – Citral – Hexyl cinnamal – Benzyl salicylate – Coumarin – Lyral (hydroxyisohexyl-3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde)- Benzyl benzoate – \u00ce\u00b1-Isomethylionon – Hydroxycitronellal – Benzyl alcohol – Cinnamyl alcohol – Isoeugenol – Amyl cinnamal – Cinnamal – Farnesol – Benzyl cinnamate – Oak moss – Anisyl alcohol – Amylcinnamyl alcohol – Methyl heptine carbonate – Tree moss.<\/p>\n

Check all the INCI’s????<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is a considerable amount of work checking for these substances on a product every time. Common perfumes found in cosmetics are for example Geraniol and Linalool. I also see Farnesol more often. Be aware of these if you have sensitive skin. The ‘other fragrances’ are simply listed as ‘perfume’or ‘fragrance’.
