Previously I wrote that perfume is not meant to go on skin. Worse still, it is the number 1 allergen in skincare products. Above all it can cause premature skin ageing.
During the holidays I went to a newly opened children’s park in Laren. As you can see from the photograph, it is a super park.
There are many people who regularly experience problems when using cosmetic products. It has become clear from international studies that 50% of women have sensitive skin. Irritation can be in the form of itching, redness, bumps and a burning or prickly sensation. A common myth is that it happens because your skin needs to get used to a product.
I often get asked what the perfect cream is. Sadly, there is no such cream, at least in the sense that one which may be the ultimate product for you may cause problems for someone else.
The price of beauty products varies enormously. An expensive moisturiser does not guarantee its effectiveness. In fact you should certainly be suspicious if you have to pay more than 60 euro’s for a product. There is no combination of active ingredient which can make your product so costly. Not even if the product contains high concentrations of active ingredients (and sadly this is seldom the case…).
The majority of people need to use a Moisturiser. In the step by step plan this step comes before sun cream. Some Moisturizers contain a Sun Protection Factor (SPF), but in general I think it is wise to use a separate product. I will explain this later in my blog.
I received a mail concerning babycare skin products after my story was read in a national newspaper. It was someone who had noticed that the products she used for her children contained irritants. Because I have four young children I am always scrutinizing ingredient lists on baby products. To my amazement it appears that there are a large number of baby products that are far from mild. It is also not so surprising then, that the number of skin problems amongst young children is rapidly rising.
After the Cleanser, a Toner is the second step in the step-by-step plan for beautiful skin.
A separate night cream is not necessary. A good day cream is also just as good for night time. There is no difference in the creams in terms of the formula. The only difference between a day and night cream is that a sun protection factor is incorporated into the day cream, which is something that is not required for the night cream.
