Anti-Wrinkle Creams

Do anti-wrinkle creams really work? How then? A short time ago I received this question via e-mail. Below is a short answer to this.

Active ingredients

Creams are particularly helpful in improving the moisture content, elasticity and barrier functioning of the skin. When skin begins to age, creams with active ingredients can indeed improve the appearance of the skin. Ingredients such as Vitamin A Acid, Glycolic Acid and Vitamin C come to mind here.

These substances should be present in sufficiently high concentrations, and yet still be packaged in a good way. An anti-wrinkle cream should not therefore contain any irritating substances such as perfume. The skin would become more fragile from this and the ageing process accelerated!

There are no miracles to be expected from anti-wrinkle creams

Don’t except any miracles for curing wrinkles, pigmentation and sagging skin. Generally, creams that you can buy over the counter cannot contain ingredients that can have any great effect on skin. Even though they do often promise this!

What I can assure you of is that if you consistently follow a modified skincare regime with good quality products you’ll definitely see a difference. Often a lot of patience is required but from experience I know that your patience will eventually be rewarded!

p.s I didn’t intend mentioning it again, but I can’t let this go! It is estimated that 90% of premature skin ageing is due to the sun. The real wonder anti-wrinkle creams – for preventing wrinkles – , therefore, are sun creams! Even in winter…..
